Key Printing Concepts
Direct Thermal (DT): Uses special heat-reactive paper that turns black when heated. It’s simple, requires no ink or ribbons, but labels are sensitive to heat and light over time.
Thermal Transfer (TT): Uses a ribbon to transfer ink onto the label. This method is ideal for labels requiring high durability, heat resistance, or a longer lifespan.
DPI (Dots Per Inch) measures the printer’s resolution. A higher DPI (e.g., 300) produces sharper, more detailed prints ideal for customer-facing retail labels with logos. A lower DPI (e.g., 203) prints faster and is perfect for internal use like expiration dates.
